The Other 15 Hours – Suzanne Robichaud, RCH
If what we think repeatedly becomes automatic, what thought patterns are you practicing all day long?

A daily meditation, self-hypnosis or journaling practice can be so beneficial. Once you have gotten yourself to the place where it has become automatic, and you are actually doing it consistently you will notice a huge change in your life.
Some of those benefits include:
*Strengthening your concentration and focus
*Experiencing a peaceful/blissful state, which is good for mind and body,
*The creation of a pathway to this feeling so that you can access it when you choose easily
*So much creativity and the opportunity to look within on a regular basis to check in with yourself… and these are just a few of the amazing benefits.
But that’s only 10, 30 or maybe 60 minutes of your day. What is your mind thinking about and focused on the rest of your day? Say you get a solid 8 hours of sleep, you meditate one hour, that leaves another 15 hours of the day that you are training your mind, OR you are running on the programs you already created.
So what are you focusing on as you go throughout your day? What or how does it make you feel? What happens around you that pulls you away from how you felt during your meditation?
The rest of your day (in a non-overwhelming/another thing to do way!) is a great time to strengthen your mind and to create the reactions and responses you want to have.
Start by noticing what pulls you away from how you want to be feeling.
Did you take something personally? Did you compare yourself to someone else? Did you get triggered and now you are caught in a negative thought loop? Did something around you remind you of something that hurt you in the past, and now you are thinking about it and re-feeling it all over again?
You have approximately 15 hours a day to change these things, and these things take effort to change because
1) Your subconscious mind is designed to keep you the same
2) They are engrained well because you repeated these thoughts, or similar emotion-evoking thoughts over a long period of time.
Now, how do you WANT to be feeling?
When you catch yourself focusing on the things you do not want to be focusing on, having feelings you do not want to have (that’s your conscious mind catching that) STOP and choose to think about something that evokes a feeling you want to be feeling. This does not have to be more work, or stressful. This can simply be something you do when you catch yourself or are in the mood to do it. Find a better feeling thought. Create an affirmation that evokes a better feeling inside of you. And Practice replacing it.
And if you practice this anytime you catch yourself throughout the day, think about how good you will be at this. Your subconscious mind learns through repetition and/or experience. So repeat, repeat, and repeat the patterns or responses you want to have any time you can. That is hours of the day you can be practicing/training your mind to be the way you want it to be.
Once you repeat the new response enough (studies differ on how often) it will become your new response and then you will not have to work on that anymore. One less thing to pull you away from how you want to be feeling! And once it is in your mind it is there for good!
It does not have to be hard, it does not have to be work. Just do your best, you can change the things you want to change… or you can change nothing at all!
This is how to do the work and make the changes to your mind consciously. It can be done, but it takes time and it takes practice. If you want to make these changes faster and easier, hypnotherapy is the perfect tool to help you achieve fast results. When you are in a state of Hypnosis, you are working directly with your Subconscious mind, that part of your mind that holds your automatic thoughts, responses, beliefs, and behaviors. During a hypnotherapy session, you can heal deep wounds from your past that created the patterns and responses you want to change. Once the healing is done, there is less or no emotion behind those thoughts which makes it so much easier to change the thought or response. As well, when you are in a state of hypnosis, you are very suggestible, allowing the patterns and beliefs to go directly into the subconscious mind making them automatic.
